The Admissions Process

Families are encouraged to make applications well in advance of the entry point for their child as we are experiencing heavy demand for places.

Once an application form is received, families will receive written acknowledgement and your child will be placed in our Applicant Pool. All applicants will be assessed on an individual basis and an interview with the Principal will be arranged for those who have been selected for the next stage.

LITTLE DOVES AND KRISTIN KINDERGARTEN

Applications for Little Doves Early Learning Centre and Kristin Kindergarten are open throughout the year. Once an application is received, families will receive written acknowledgement and their child's name will be placed in our Applicant Pool. Families will be contacted and invited for an interview if a place becomes available.  At this stage, due to the high number of applications, tours will be offered by invitation only.

JUNIOR SCHOOL

Applications for Year 0 and Year 1 are open throughout the year. Families will be notified if their child has been selected for an entrance interview and this process will take place closer to the student turning five years old.

Limited places are available in our Junior School with many year levels at capacity. If you are interested in a place in Years 2 - 6, please contact our Admissions Manager.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Applications for Years 7 and 9, 2025 close on 31 March 2024.

Due to high demand for places in Years 7 and 9, not all applicants will be selected for an entrance interview. The Middle School Leadership and Admissions teams will review every application received before the closing date.

Families will be notified via email if their child has been selected for an entrance interview by 30 April 2024. Applicants who are not selected for an entrance interview will be placed in the 2025 Applicant Pool and may be contacted if an opportunity for an entrance interview arises at a later date.

If successfully shortlisted for an entrance interview with the Middle School Principal (or their delegate), the student and their parent(s) or guardian(s) will be required to attend an interview no later than 30 June 2024, with outcomes of those interviews being sent to families no later than 5 July 2024.

SENIOR SCHOOL

Applications for Years 11 - 13, 2025 close on 31 May 2024.

Due to high demand and limited places in our Senior School not all applicants will be selected for an entrance interview.

If successfully shortlisted for an entrance interview with the Senior School Principal (or their delegate), the student and their parent(s) or guardian(s) will be required to attend an entrance interview no later than 30 June 2024.

THE APPLICANT POOL

All applications received for entrance to Kristin School are initially placed in our Applicant Pool. Applicants in the pool are not listed in any particular order and are assessed based on their merit and other factors we look for including our Kristin values. Those who are successfully selected will be asked to bring their child in for an interview with the relevant school Principal.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

When reviewing applications for entrance interview selection, Kristin may take into consideration the following:

  • Students who demonstrate excellent character, school engagement, academic strengths, sporting participation, performing arts involvement and leadership qualities;

  • Students and families with the closest alignment to our Kristin Values: Progress – Continually growing and developing. Vision – Having a sense of direction and purpose. Integrity – Being honest and of strong moral principles. Love – From a strong self, able to affirm and compassionately serve others.

  • Affiliation to Kristin through current and past siblings;

  • Students who have a family member attending Kristin or a long-standing connection to Kristin (e.g. cousin, Kauri Club, former students);

  • Children of Alumni;

  • Children of Kristin staff;

  • Students from other International Baccalaureate schools;

  • Proficiency in the English language (where English is not the applicant's first language).

No one criteria by itself is a determining factor. We are looking for students and families who espouse our values, make the most of the opportunities available, and contribute to our school community.
