The admission process
Families are encouraged to make applications well in advance of the entry point for their child as we are experiencing heavy demand for places.
Application forms
Online applications take approximately 15 minutes to complete. You will need:

The photo page of the applicant’s passport or a New Zealand birth certificate

For non-New Zealand passport holders, a copy of the applicant’s visa (if the applicant has one)

Recent head and shoulders photo of the applicant

Two most recent school reports

Copies of any educational assessments e.g. Educational Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, SPELD, Auditory Processing, IEPs or Paediatrician reports (if applicable). These help us plan how to support a student's learning if they are enrolled at Kristin.
Little Doves and Kristin Kindergarten
Applications for Little Doves Early Learning Centre and Kristin Kindergarten are open throughout the year.
Once an application is received, families will receive written acknowledgement and their child's name will be placed in our Applicant Pool. Families will be contacted and invited for an interview if a place becomes available. At this stage, due to the high number of applications, tours will be offered by invitation only.
Junior School
Applications for Year 0 and Year 1 are open throughout the year. Families will be notified if their child has been selected for an entrance interview and this process will take place closer to the student turning five-years-old.
Limited places are available in our Junior School with many year levels at capacity. If you are interested in a place in Year 2 - 6, please contact our Admissions Manager.
Middle School
Applications for Years 7 and 9, 2025 closed on 31 March 2024.
Applications for Years 7 and 9, 2026 are now open and close on 31 March 2025.
Due to high demand for places in Year 7 and 9, not all applicants will be selected for an entrance interview. The Middle School Leadership and Admissions teams will review every application received before the closing date.
Applicants who are not selected for an entrance interview will be placed in the Applicant Pool and may be contacted if an opportunity for an entrance interview arises at a later date.
Senior School
Applications for Years 11 - 13, 2025 closed on 31 May 2024.
Applications for Years 11 - 13, 2026 are now open and close on 31 May 2025.
Due to high demand and limited places in our Senior School not all applicants will be selected for an entrance interview.
If successfully shortlisted for an entrance interview with the Senior School Principal (or their delegate), the student and their parent(s) or guardian(s) will be required to attend an entrance interview.
International students
Please note, Kristin does not generally accept International Students under the age of 14 years unless they live in Auckland with a parent permanently present. A copy of the student's birth certificate and passport must be provided with this application form.
What we look for
Kristin is an academic school, but also believes passionately in all-round education. Selection for entry is not solely based on academic criteria, but also considers the character, interests, talents and personality of every individual student.
We are looking for students with real potential to become intellectual, inspired and independent learners. We want them to have the desire and ability to contribute broadly across the co-curriculum so they can develop fully as individuals. Successful candidates will also possess the personality and character for life in a busy environment by showing traits such as independence, resilience and inclusivity.
Community connections
As part of the selection process we also consider any connections which students may have with the Kristin community, such as being siblings of current students or the children of Alumni. Although this does not guarantee the offer of a place, we will always strive to look favourably upon students who have Kristin connections if we feel that they meet our minimum entry criteria and are therefore likely to thrive and be happy here.
