Inspiring a love of learning

Kindergarten

(4 - 5 year olds)

At Kristin Kindergarten, children build a strong sense of who they are and explore the opportunities that await them in this ever-changing world.

Through careful planning and thought-provoking environments, we inspire children to share knowledge, ask questions and think critically about their learning. They build confidence while working constructively, and develop an understanding of others and the world around them.

Embracing children's wonder, playfulness

and love for learning is paramount as

they build a strong sense of who they are

and the endless opportunities that await

them in this ever changing world.

Fostering curiosity, embracing wonder

Embracing children's wonder, playfulness and love for learning is paramount at Kristin Kindergarten. Through providing children with a safe and inspirational environment we are able to foster children's curiosity and provide a strong framework for 21st century learning.

Kristin Kindergarten caters for 4-year-olds and supports them on their learning journey through the early years, transitioning seamlessly into Year 0 and Year 1.

We strive to create a safe and inspirational environment where teachers and children can connect. Research shows that a dyadic relationship (one teacher devoted to a small group of children) supports children’s early brain development and sense of belonging.

Our young learners enjoy regular specialist instruction in Languages (Te Reo Māori, Mandarin Chinese), Music and Movement, Performing and Visual Arts and a Perceptual Motor Programme. Visits to the Kristin library and bush add richness to our International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, which is carried on throughout the school. Our highly skilled teachers move to the Junior School with each class, ensuring a seamless transition to school.*

*Children attending Kindergarten are required to submit an application for enrolment in the Junior School. While Kindergarten students receive priority consideration in the application process, it's important to note that admission to Junior School is not guaranteed. Successful applicants to the Junior School will automatically progress through to Middle and Senior School without the need for additional applications.

Curriculum

Kristin Kindergarten has a carefully planned curriculum that interweaves an inquiry based IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the New Zealand Early Years Curriculum Te Whāriki. We inspire children to share knowledge, ask questions, think critically about their learning, build confidence while working constructively, and develop an understanding of others and the world around them.
