2023 Junior School Production - The Lion King
2023 Junior School Production - The Lion King
The colours and sounds of the savannah exploded onto the stage in Term 4 of 2023, with our Junior School Production of Disney’s The Lion King KIDS. Rounding out an incredible year of Kristin Productions, the tunes of “Hakuna Matata”, “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” and “The Circle Of Life” could be heard across the campus as every student in the Junior School began preparations to take the stage.
A hallmark of this flagship production event is seeing students from Kindergarten to Year 6 proudly stepping onto the Kristin stage together. This meant a cast of close to 500 helped bring the beloved Disney story to life, with zebras, giraffes, hyenas, bird and lions taking over the Auditorium in Week 5. After weeks of learning music and choreography in Performing Arts classes, each student felt empowered to achieve excellence on stage, and played their part in the success of this very special production.
Involving the entire Junior School student body ensures that every student is offered the opportunity to be exposed to the Performing Arts here at Kristin. The arts have proven benefits in the development of young people. An involvement in musical theatre enhances motor-skills, memorisation skills, verbal and non-verbal communication, self-expression, self-confidence, teamwork, poise, grace, and self-esteem. Our productions are an integral part of the holistic education offered to each student here at Kristin, and these benefits are far-reaching for every child – something that we are all collectively extremely proud of.
Supporting these students to reach for the stars was a world-class production team who worked theatrical magic to create the visual feast that delighted audiences across two sold out performances. Embracing the “Hakuna Matata” mantra, these gracious and generous parents, staff members and community members gave so much to ensure the production experience for our youngest performers was of the highest quality. I cannot express my gratitude enough to these wonderful champions of Kristin Productions.
Disney’s The Lion King KIDS was hailed by one proud Kristin community member as “an awe-inspiring spectacle... Disney’s The Lion King KIDS will go down in Kristin history as one of the most visually engaging shows ever!”. I am confident that the lion sized paw-print left by these students in Kristin’s proud production legacy will be talked about for years to come.
