At the heart of Kristin's values is a belief that the best education does more than simply instil knowledge in the minds of students. By nurturing the mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and social well-being of our students at Kristin we enable them to grow and develop to their potential, while offering support in a safe and positive environment.
Because the needs of our students differ between the age groups, each school is structured in a way to best support the needs of its students. In the Senior School this structure is evident in the Senior Leadership team where the Deputy and Assistant Principals oversee NCEA, IB and Tertiary Futures. Monitoring, advice and guidance for seniors is co-ordinated by the four House Deans.
Senior students are encouraged to develop the skills necessary to become independent learners. However, they still require pastoral support throughout their senior studies and our four House Deans offer this. These skilled and experienced teachers oversee the well-being of students in their House and are the first point of contact for students and parents should concerns arise about any aspect of senior schooling. As students progress through the Senior School they remain with their House Dean, providing stability, familiarity and consistency throughout their three years in the school.
While in Year 10 all students will meet with their Senior School Dean in preparation for entering into Year 11. This handover helps students with the transition to the Senior School and their subject choices.
Kristin offers a purpose-built Wellness Centre that encompasses health, counselling, chaplaincy and attendance. The Well-Being team works in collaboration with students, staff and parents to enhance well-being at Kristin. We aim to create and maintain an environment where individuals can flourish and achieve their full potential.
An important branch of Information Services at Krisitn, our skilled and helpful ICT team is available to support students with queries relating to our Digital Learning Programme and BYO devices.
