Environmental Workshops in Tahoe
After over 30 hours of hectic travel, we finally met up with our Australian counterparts and arrived at the fabulous Lake Tahoe on Sunday night USA time.
On our first full day in Tahoe we spent the morning engaged in workshops focused on local environmental issues in the Tahoe region. In the afternoon we were treated to a paddle boat trip on the lake to Emerald Bay. The scenery was stunning and it was a great chance to get to know each other a bit better.
After the lake tour, we visited the oldest environmental group in the region - Keep Tahoe Blue. They showed us how they monitor the quality of the stormwater that flows into the lake. We then had a presentation on the issues they face trying to maintain and improve the quality and clarity of the lake water for future generations.
Tomorrow we are off to the Sierra Nevada College for workshops on climate change.
