Day 2 in Tahoe

Today some of us were up early this morning, running, doing yoga or going for a gentle stroll around Lake Tahoe. After a breakfast of granola (muesli), amongst other tasty treats, we were off to the northern end of Lake Tahoe.

We were lucky enough to be invited onto the Sierra Nevada College Campus. This local university has a great science education centre where we participated in interactive workshops to learn more about the science behind their work monitoring the quality and clarity of Lake Tahoe’s water.

After another great lunch in the campus cafeteria, we had one more presentation on how the Lake Tahoe authorities are working together to deal with and adapt to some of the adverse weather events that are occurring due to climate change.

On the way back to our lodge at the southern end of Lake Tahoe the snow started to fall quite heavily, which was very exciting for those of us who had not experienced snow before. Tomorrow we are off to visit some of the Federal Departments and Whittell High School during the day and then being hosted by local Tahoe families for dinner.
