Wastewater Workshops

On our first full day of workshops in Seattle we started with an interactive and informative tour of a new high-tech wastewater treatment station at Brightwater. Who knew that how we deal with the 4 P’s could be so interesting? (I will let you try and decide what the 4P’s are that leave our houses in wastewater pipes for treatment!)

In the afternoon we had a fantastic workshop at the University of Washington, working with Sarah Stuteville, the Co-Founder and Creative Director of the Seattle Globalist. “The Seattle Globalist is an award-winning non-profit news organization dedicated to elevating diverse voices through media.” Even a person as challenged as I am with the written word has an amazing story inside them, apparently. Hmm, I think I am still looking for mine, but hopefully I am putting what I learnt yesterday into practice and this blog post is a little more interesting than my previous ones!

Over the weekend the weather cooperated, and the clouds cleared long enough to see Mount Rainer (which is taller than Aoraki /Mt Cook), the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges and of course the Seattle Space Needle. Tomorrow we are attending class all day at Chief Sealth International School and then attending some basketball games in the evening.
