Netball

Netball is one of the school's largest sports and is played both socially and competitively from Year 2-13. Available primarily as a winter sport, pre-season trainings and trials begin early in Term 1 and the season concludes mid-Term 3. Summer Netball is played in Term 4 and is a popular social avenue for students to experience Netball.

Netball caters for all ages and levels from Year 2 through to Senior teams. Experienced and new players are welcome.

Trials

Junior School

Year 2: No Trial (Allocated teams)
Year 3-4: No Trial (Allocated teams)
Year 5-6: Tuesday 27 February (12.45pm-1.25pm) and Tuesday 6 March (12.45pm-1.25pm)

Note: Year 5-6 players must wear PE uniform and suitable footwear for trials.

Year 7-13

Senior 1 and 2 (Invited Players): Friday 16 and Tuesday 22 February, 3.30pm-5.30pm
Year 7 and 8: Saturday 3 and 10 March, Time TBC.
Year 9: Saturday 3 and 10 March, Time TBC.
Years  10-13: Saturday 3 and 10 March, Time TBC.

Note: Players are required to attend both trial dates to be held at the Kristin Village Courts. Players must wear PE gear uniform and suitable footwear. 

Pre-season Training

Pre-season programmes will run in Term 1. 

Junior School

General Skills, 4 sessions - Wednesday 7, 14, 21, 28 March, 3.30pm-4.30pm - JS Courts
Cost: no cost

Year 7 and 8

General Fitness and Skills, 5 sessions - Thursdays 15 February and Thursday 1, 8, 15, 22 March, 3.30pm-4.30pm - Village Courts
Cost: $50 for all 5 sessions.

Year 9-13

Skills Academy, 7am-8am - Friday 2 March, 9 March and 16 March, Village Courts.
Cost: $30 for all 3 sessions.

Premier (Invited Players)

Strength and Conditioning, 6 sessions -  Tuesday 6, 13, 20, 28  March and 3, 10 April.  7am-8am - Student Strength and Conditioning Centre
Cost: $60 for all 6 sessions.

Season/Competition

Grading starts on 1 May for the Premier Team. Intermediate grading starts on the 3 May and Senior grading starts on the 5 May.  Please note this is Week 3 of the Term 1 holidays.

Trainings for all teams will be at Kristin School, either before or after school on weekdays. The coach will determine the most suitable day and time. Training will commence the week starting 26 March.

There is no play on Queen's Birthday Weekend or during most school holidays, however, as our holidays overlap with other schools some matches will fall during the Kristin school break. Players must be available for these games.

Uniform

All players are required to purchase the Netball dress from the Sports Office. The school tracksuit is compulsory for all students in school sports teams. Every student is expected to arrive at all sporting events in their tracksuit.

Umpiring

Kristin has a strong umpire development programme led by Sarah Underdown. All players and non-players, that are interested in umpiring, are coached and mentored through the netball New Zealand umpire pathway. Getting involved in umpiring is a fantastic way to improve a players understanding of the game. So grab a whistle and join the team in white. Anyone interested in umpiring can register using the registration form or email Sarah.

Cost

Approximate season fees for each year group are as folows:

- Year 2/3 $40

- Year 4 $75

- Year 5/6 $250

- Years 7-9 $250

- Senior teams will range between $250-$350 dependent on grade.

- Premier team $500

The exact costs are dependent on the costs of running teams for the season including coaching, umpiring and gear requirements.
