Welcome to the Senior School

Kristin Senior School has a proud record of academic excellence and is committed to upholding these standards. In pursuing Senior studies at Kristin, students will receive tuition from some of New Zealand's finest teachers and will leave the school well-prepared for tertiary study.

Kristin offers a Dual Academic Pathway in the Senior School, which allows students to choose between the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or NCEA in Year 12 and 13. As the first school in New Zealand to introduce the IB Diploma, Kristin has over 25 years experience in offering this globally recognised qualification.

On average, approximately 77% of the NCEA certificates awarded to Kristin students over all three year levels are endorsed with Merit or Excellence, and in the IB Diploma our students regularly achieve a score of 40+, placing them in the top 6% worldwide. In 2014, 30% of our IB students achieved this benchmark and in recent years we have had a number of our students achieve a perfect score of 45.

Our innovative Kristin Futures model supports students as they prepare for tertiary study. A proven programme at the forefront of best practice in education, Kristin Futures enables students to plan their academic pathway through the Senior School in a way that prepares them effectively for their chosen tertiary future. The success of Kristin Futures is evident in the growing numbers of students being awarded tertiary scholarships in New Zealand and overseas.

Critical to the success of our Senior students is a culture of self-confidence, high personal standards and personal accountability within the Senior School. The opportunity to learn and practise leadership is one of the most important features of a Kristin education. The School operates on the belief that leadership is service and all students are encouraged to accept the challenge to lead.
