Sport Clubs

In addition to the vast array of codes supported by Kristin Sport, we also offer a number of sporting opportunities through our Sport Clubs. A dedicated Clubs Manager administers these groups, which offer competitive and social sporting opportunities for students in the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools as outlined below.

Year 0-13
All students in the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools get involved in Athletics. The school championship events are held during Terms 1 and 4, with each year level taking part in a one-day competition. Top performers from each division are then selected to take part in local, regional and national championships.


Year 3-13
Badminton is played indoors and is an ideal sport to get involved in over the winter months. Teams are spread over seven age categories. Prospective players need no experience as long as they are keen to learn, have a racquet and can attend pratice once per wekk after school.


Year 3-13
Basketball is a popular sport at Kristin that caters for all levels and ages. Year 3-8 teams have the opportunity to play all year, while Year 9-13 teams play mainly during the winter terms. Year 3-6 students play Miniball, with modified rules with lowered hoops.


Year 2-13
Climbing involves a combination of bouldering and belay climbing. Students can join purely for fun to learn new skills or to become competitive and enter climbing events.

Coaches, Referees

Year 7-13
Coaching and officiating are essential components of any sport and offer a great way to give back to a team or club. For players, taking on the role of coach or umpire can help you to develop a deeper understanding of the game while providing an avenue for you to immerse yourself in the sport you love.


Year 4-13
Students are invited in Term 4 to join weekly training sessions, which continues into the following Term1 where a Junior School Kristin team is selected for the Southwell Summer Exchange. Players are also encouraged to extend their cricket interest with East Coast Bays Cricket Club.

From Year 9-13, players return to Kristin for the Schools competition which is played in Term 1 and 4, midweek and on Saturday afternoons.


Kindy - Year 13
All students in the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools get involved in Cross-Country. The school championship events are held during Terms 2 and 3, with each school taking part in a one-day competition. Top performers from each division are then selected to take part in local, regional and national championship events.


Year 7-13
To be part of the Kristin Equestrian team you are required to have your own horse and gear. Members of the Kristin Equestrian team perform very well at competitions. All team members are dedicated and professional towards their chosen sport. New riders are very welcome to join this friendly team.


Year 3-13
JF Fencing School offers classes for beginners and advanced fencers on Saturday mornings throughout Terms 1 to 4 in the Roy Munn Gymnasium. Judit Fliszar is an internationally qualified Fencing Coach with years of elite-level competitive history. Judit runs our Kristin Fencing programme. There is an advanced program on Tuesdays for Kristin Fencers who would like to do more training.


Kindy - Year 13
Football at Kristin caters for all levels of ability from those new to the game right through to the elite High Performance squad. The Football season runs throughout Term 2 and 3, with trials held for players in Year 4-13 in Term 1.


Year 2-13
Golf is a fast growing sport at Kristin and is offered to students of all ages who are keen to play and compete. There are a variety of competitions available to golfers at all levels, within and outside the school. This includes age-level Kristin School Championships which are open to all students. The Auckland Intercollegiate Premier Golf Competition is during Term 1. There will be a variety of programmes available through the Institute of Golf (IoG), located at the Kristin Driving Range, Gate 4, on the School grounds. The programmes are varied and designed to suit the level of ability of each individual.


Kindy - Year 13
Kristin enters individuals and teams in Gymsport events throughout the year. Currently we participate in Rhythmic Gymnastics, Primary, Intermediate and Secondary Schools Artistic Gymnastics and Trampoline. Our Primary Gymnastics Club programme runs each Monday and Friday throughout the year, from the Roy Munn Gym.


Kindy - Year 13
Hockey is available throughout the year, the competitive season, however, runs through Terms 2 and 3. Our teams have an excellent record in the North Harbour and National competitions and we consistently produce talented representative players.


Year 7-13
Year 7-8 students can sign up to compete in a Triathlon in Term 1. Year 9-13 students have a variety of events available throughout Term 1-2.


Year 1-13
Netball is available primarily as a winter sport, pre-season trainings and trials begin early in Term 1 and the season concludes mid-Term 3. Summer Netball is played in Term 4 and is now also proving a popular avenue for students to play socially in mixed teams and also caters for those new to Netball.


Year 7-13
There are a number of events that cater for both novice and experienced athletes including sprints, relays, individual and rogaine. We also have local club contacts to support runners looking for a more competitive environment.


Kindy - Year 3
This is a non-competitive session for students open to both boys and girls. This is a programme that compliments our PE lessons through the development of basic fundamental skills.

Rugby Union

Year 3-13
Rugby is a great team game where you can improve your fitness, learn some new skills and be involved with friends and family. During the summer months, players are encouraged to be involved in Touch to improve their Rugby skills. Students in Year 3-6 play Rippa Rugby or Tackle Rugby in Year 5-6 zonedays. In Year 7-8, a team will be chosen to play in the Intermediate Schools Field Days. For Year 9-13 students, we field teams in the North Harbour Secondary Schools Competition.

Running Club

Year 3-13
This is a non-competitive club for students in Year 2-6 and is open to both boys and girls. Students, teachers and families are able to run together Thursday after school, across the year. Courses are specific to age, experience and fitness. No registration is required for this club so you can simply turn up any Thursday that suits you. Junior School students are to meet (changed) outside Mrs Neubert's classroom at 3.20pm and then walk together to meet the MS/SS runners. All MS/SS students are to meet (changed) outside of the MS Office at 3.30pm.


Kindy - Year 13
Kristin's Snowsports programme caters for all ages and ability levels in skiing, freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Students can choose from a range of programmes to help them develop their skills in a safe and fun environment, either at Snowplanet, the Kristin Lodge at Mt Ruapehu or the spectacular alpine environment of Wanaka. The programme caters for both recreational and competitive athletes.


Year 7-13
This is a non-competitive club open to both boys and girls starting from Year 7.


Year 0-13
All students in the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools get involved in Swimming. The school championship events are held during Term 1, with each year level taking part in a one-day competition. Top performers from each division are then selected to take part in local, regional and national championship tournaments.

Table Tennis

Year 3-13
Table Tennis can be played competitively and socially at Kristin. Training and casual games are held during lunchtimes. Matches are held for Year 7-13 at the North Harbour Table Tennis Centre in Northcote in Term 2 and 3.


Year 2-6
Students learn the basics of self-defence. Coached by Matthew Davey, a 3rd Dan black-belt instructor and international competitor.


Year 3-6
Tennis Northern deliver our Junior tennis programme. The programme focuses on playing the game through the use of specific and modified equipment. In Term 1 and 4 coaching is available at Kristin School on the Junior School tennis courts and in Term 3 and 4 moves indoors to Tennis Northern. Players wear their PE uniform and trainers. The cost is approximately $120.00 per term. Currently we offer Wednesday after school or Thursday after school at Kristin during Term 1 and 4.


Touch Rugby

Year 3-13
Touch is a safe, non-contact sport that is growing rapidly New Zealand-wide. It can be played competitively as well as socially. Touch is a simple and easy game to learn and is one of the few sports that you can play in either a same-sex or mixed team.  Year 1-10 is played in Term 4, and Year 11-13 is played in Term 1.


Year 7-13
Volleyball is a fast and exciting team sport that can be played by all. It can be played both competitively or socially. Volleyball is a simple and fun game to play and no previous experience is necessary. Kristin fields teams in both Beach and Indoor Volleyball. For those interested in Beach Volleyball, there are various camps and tournaments that pupils will be encouraged to enter, based at the Mairangi Bay Beach Volleyball Centre. We also have our own Beach Volleyball Court that is used for coaching purposes.

Water Polo and Flippaball

Year 2-13
At Kristin we provide Water Polo teams at Year 7-8, Junior (Year 9-10) and Senior (Year 11-13) levels. For our Junior School players, Year 2-6, we field Flippaball teams. Flippaball is a modified version of Water Polo for young players, enabling them to learn the basics of Water Polo. Players are able to touch the bottom of the pool, making it ideal for beginners.


Year 7-13
Kristin enters individuals and teams into various organised Intermediate and Secondary School Sailing Regattas. Our team sailing 420 programme is open to both intermediate and experienced sailors.
