Ladakh Experience - All Well
I received another mobile phone update from my staff and Andrew Churches on Sunday afternoon. They reported that the Kristin School expedition team successfully made the 5,000m crossing over the Matha La pass and are now trekking the the splendor and relatively moderate altitude of Matho Valley. Their camp is set at virtually the same altitude as Leh and the Indus Valley, so everyone will be feeling the benefits of having descended out of the highest altitudes of the entire trek. It was also confirmed that all the students & staff are doing very well with the challenge and there are no significant medical issues to report. We've had a respite from the intense sunshine of the past week and the partly cloudy skies has dropped the temperatures to almost optimal trekking conditions. Today's (Monday) objective is an easy traverse of the Matho valley to the base of the final pass which the group will cross tomorrow ahead of the end of the trek on Wednesday. Some of my staff will move ahead of the group tomorrow and come out on Tuesday afternoon to help prepare the hotel for the return of the group and I'll be able to share some photos with you.
