Kim Green appointed Kristin School Executive Principal

The Kristin School Board of Governors is pleased to announce the appointment of Kim Green as the new Executive Principal of Kristin.

 

Kim will join Kristin on Monday 20 January 2025 from the International School in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where she is Head of School (Executive Principal). She replaces outgoing Executive Principal Mark Wilson, who takes up an equivalent Executive Principal position as Rector at St Andrew’s College in Christchurch from the start of 2025.

 

Kristin Board Chair Richard Sharp says the Board are delighted to be welcoming Kim back to New Zealand and to the school community. Her appointment follows a robust international search process that attracted high-calibre applications from within New Zealand and internationally.

 

Richard says: “Kim is an exceptional, dynamic educator who has extensive experience in leadership roles gained in International Baccalaureate (IB) schools throughout the world.

 

“She is passionate about creating strong connections across the learning continuum that lead to outstanding student outcomes while ensuring wellbeing always lies at the heart of education.”

 

“Our school has a well-earned reputation as one of New Zealand’s finest and Kim is ideally placed to lead Kristin into the future with a wholehearted focus on progress, vision, integrity and love.”

 

Growing up around New Zealand, Kim studied at Waikato University and started her career as a Geography and Social Studies teacher at Auckland’s Rosehill College in 1998 followed by six years at St John’s College – Hamilton.

 

In 2006, she accepted a role at Vientiane International School in Laos, where she began teaching the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. Here, Kim was the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator and she was later appointed Secondary School Principal.

 

Kim then moved to the International School Dhaka in Bangladesh in 2014 as Head of the Secondary School and then she held the role of Director / Executive Principal at Qatar Academy Sidra in 2017, both IB World Schools. She started her current position at International School Ho Chi Minh City in 2020.

 

Kim is humbled to be joining Kristin and returning home to Aotearoa.

An adventurer at heart, Kim enjoys the outdoors in her spare time along with reading and dancing. She is married to Philip Graham, an IB Physical Health and Education teacher and experienced athletics and activities director.  

 

Kim holds a Masters in Educational Leadership (United Kingdom), Bachelor Degrees in both Education and Social Science (New Zealand), and Diplomas in both Teaching (New Zealand) and Management (Australia). She is an IB Lead Educator for the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO), an Independent Concept-Based Curriculum and Instruction Consultant endorsed by Lynn Erikson and Lois Lanning, a Cognitive and Q4 DISC Profile Coach and Intercultural Development Inventory Assessor and Coach. In 2014 she published ‘Re-thinking Leadership Development in Schools’, a book that presents an innovative and effective framework for leadership development in schools.  

 

Kim is currently completing a Doctorate in Social Science exploring the Interculturality of Educational Organisational Systems at Monarch Business School in Switzerland.
