Over three quarters of our international students are enjoying first hand a typical Kiwi family experience in homestay accommodation.
The friendship between homestay families and students can be long lasting. An additional benefit is the chance to improve your English skills quickly. Our Homestay Coordinator provides ongoing guidance to students and homestay families.

Here's what some of our international students have had to say about their Homestay experience:
"Life in New Zealand, or at least in Auckland, is quite similar to German life, but "Kiwis" tend to be more open hearted. My homestay family took me to an amazing quiz night in Albany and the food my host-mother cooks is just amazing. New Zealand offers a great range of food. I miss my family, but I feel welcomed." ... Andre from Germany
"I can talk about everything with my homestay parents and they always welcome and invite my friends. I enjoy dinner with them because the food is nice and we talk." ... Masahiro from Japan
"I had really good relationship with my host family and it was fun spending time with my little homestay brothers. They reminded me of my own little brother. They cared about me a lot and were really interested in everything I told them about my school life. I will miss them a lot." ... Jakob from Austria
"My homestay is good. They are so kind and friendly. I'm enjoying the food. My homestay mum helps me with some of my homework after dinner." ... Sam from China
"My homestay family is really friendly, funny and open minded. My homestay mother always asks about my school and they always try to include me in their family activities, but they also give me spare time to myself." ... Malinde from Germany
"My homestay family are my second family as I've been with them now for four years. They always make me feel a part of their family and I've seen my homestay sisters and brother grow up. I love the traditional family events like the Easter egg hunt." ... Hye Ji from Korea
"My homestay father really takes an interest in my school life and I like playing with family dog. Both my homestay father and brother play golf so they help me with learning and playing golf. I will miss them very much when I leave New Zealand." ... JP from Brazil
