Senior School Digital Learning Programme
Our established BYO-Devices Programme allows all Senior School students to bring one or more device to be connected to the Kristin wireless network.
Purchase and manage your own device
The use of smartphones, tablets, netbooks or laptops is permitted. Uniquely, all device types are seamlessly supported including Android, Blackberry, Apple IOS and mainstream Windows operating systems. Student preference should take into account the subjects for which they are enrolled and the likelihood of required software and storage to accommodate these subjects. Prior to purchase, review the minimum technical specifications listed below and be sure you understand the processes surrounding warranty, replacement and repair through your retailer. For example, repairs to Apple devices through non-Apple Authorised repair services will invalidate the Apple warranty.
Baseline Hardware and Software Requirements
Any Laptop, Tablet or Smartphone can be registered and joined to the Kristin wireless network as long as it meets the below criteria:
Wireless Network Card
All devices registered must have a Wireless network card that supports WPA2 Enterprise Encryption, and Supports either 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standards. (N or AC Recommended).
When selecting a device ensure it has suitable battery life for a full school day (up to six hours of use).
Antivirus/Malware Solution for Laptops
An antivirus/malware software is a compulsory requirement and must be installed on a laptop with current update subscriptions. Please note as part of the setup process the laptop will be checked for an antivirus/malware product. If no products are found, connection to the school network will not proceed.
Note: A trial version is not acceptable.

Curriculum Site Licensed software
If site licensed software is required for curriculum needs, it can be installed on campus at the beginning of the school year.
Installation will only be made to the student's primary device.
NOTE: Some of our curriculum site licensed software must be removed by ICTS prior to a device being replaced or a student leaving Kristin. Our site licensed agreements do not allow the selling on of our software or for students to have multiple copies.
Backing up your work
All students must regularly back-up their work (weekly as a minimum). We recommend Cloud Storage e.g. iCloud or Google Drive, or backing up to a student-owned USB memory stick or flash drive.
