Introducing Executive Principal, Mark Wilson

Mark joins the Kristin community at the beginning of Term 3 (29 July) 2019 and is excited about returning to the independent school sector and being part of a young, innovative and dynamic school such as Kristin.

"The appeal of Kristin School for me was strong, with the advantages of being a co-educational environment, founded by parents as a not-for-profit organisation, offering smooth transitions from primary through to senior schooling, strong values and a great tradition of being an innovative and leading-edge school."

Mark has an impressive and successful educational background, coming from ten years as Principal of Cashmere High School in Christchurch, Deputy Principal at Hamilton Boys' High School, Head of Faculty and Boarding at St Peter's School in Cambridge, Head of Dept. at St Paul's Collegiate (Hamilton) and earlier teaching at Hamilton Girls' High and Matamata College.

Mark was the recipient of the Woolf Fisher Fellowship in 2018, which enabled him to visit leading schools in Europe and North America and attend a leadership course at Harvard University. In addition, he was elected to and served three years on the executive of the Secondary Principals Association of New Zealand; had a range of coaching and management roles (e.g. Manager of U18 NZ Schoolboys' Football team 2006-2007); was a finalist in NZIM Young Executive of the Year Award; chair of the national geography teachers' association; and co-author of a History educational book.
