Christmas present drive for tamariki in foster care

Continuing a tradition that began as my Year 6 Exhibition project, I am enormously proud that it has grown into one of our school's most impactful service initiatives. Since 2019, this present drive has brought smiles to over 5,000 tamariki in care across Auckland and over $46,000 has been raised externally. This year, we will bring Christmas joy to at least 1,500 tamariki across eight Oranga Tamariki sites in Auckland.

We have introduced the theme of ‘Children Giving To Children,’ highlighting the significance of establishing a heartfelt connection between Kristin students and children in foster care. Demand has surged in 2025, reflecting the growing challenges families are facing and the strain this places on family units. The number of children in foster care is at record levels, and our need and purpose have never been greater.

Whilst this initiative has accompanied me on my journey through Kristin, it is now managed by a leadership team in each respective school, with House Captains in Junior and Middle School, and Whitiki Taua in Senior School.

Present ideas: snuggle toys, sensory items, clothing, me time activities, books, toys, wellness and personal hygiene products, makeup, creative, sporting equipment and headphones. All presents must be brand new and unwrapped.

Presents need to be dropped off in the present boxes around Kristin before Friday 28 November, but I encourage you to get them in as early as you can!

Present box locations: Junor, Middle and Senior School receptions, Main Administration reception and the LIC Foyer.

These tamariki in care are enormously grateful for your support. Your generosity not only demonstrates the power and caring nature of our Kristin community but also how profoundly we can transform the lives of others when we come together for a common cause.

Together, as a Kristin community, we have the power to change the stories and memories of those who need it the most.
