Weather Watchers in 2H
The children of 2H have been looking to the skies for our current unit of Inquiry. The transdisciplinary theme is ‘How the World Works’ and the students have been exploring the concept of change through the lens of weather. We have been following the daily forecast and are keenly aware of the effects of weather on our outdoor events; from weekly sporting games, to venturing out for lunch and play. Each day we measure the temperature in the morning and afternoon and chart the kind of weather that we are experiencing outside. Our research into different weather phenomenon around the world has led us to investigate other types of weather like tornadoes and hurricanes. We are learning about how and why they occur and the way people prepare for these weather extremes. The children are enjoying writing poems and composing their own weather reports. Stay tuned and you may see one of our Year 2 weather experts on a television channel in the future.
