Water Polo NISS Championships

It was a big weekend on the water for our senior Kristin School Water Polo teams. Both boys and girls Premier teams were competing in the North Island Secondary School championships.

The girls were disappointed with their overall placing of 6th, however, they had an incredible pool play game v St Cuthberts coming from a 0 - 3 down at the end of first quarter to draw the game 8 - 8. Goalie Alice Steele with some outstanding saves.

The boys went into the tournament seeded 14th, their dedication and determination to work hard together as a team, eventually paying off ending up 10th overall. This placing securing a spot in the New Zealand Secondary School championships tier one national championship.
The girls had pre-qualified based on their 3rd placing in 2018.

Larry Lambourne starred in the Boys Premier team and was also in the Harbour U14 team that went undefeated throughout 2018. This team was recently awarded the Male Team of the Year at the annual New Zealand Water Polo awards ceremony.

Good luck to both teams this weekend in their final Auckland schools games.
