Little Doves Celebrate Chinese New Year
What better way to celebrate Chinese New Year than with dumplings?! At Little Doves, parents, grandparents and children came together last week to make a feast of dumplings to mark the first day of the Chinese Lunar Year.
With help, the children were able to roll and shape an impressive 200 dumplings - enough for lunch for everyone and some left over to share. The meal was a colourful occasion too, with many of the teachers and children dressed up in traditional costumes and the centre decorated to mark the day.
Shared cultural events like this give us a chance to celebrate the diverse identities, languages and cultures of Auckland and of the children of Little Doves, and enrich us all.
