Throughout Term 2 and 3 we've held lunchtime football training on the Bass Rd field for years 3 and 4 on one day and years 5 and 6 on another day. The players were wrangled together with the help of Rob Hutton with his knowledge of the footballers in the junior school and the trainings were open to anyone who was keen.
In term 4 it was decided to continue with a year 3 and 4 training on one day and the other day combining years 5 to 8. The group is largely made up of our AIMS team and our successful year 5 and 6 team although again open to anyone who's interested. The sessions are not compulsory but have been well attended as we introduce playing principles and techniques such as vision and awareness, turning, and incisive passing. It's been great to see the enthusiasm in what I see as a bubble of talent across these age groups.
I look forward to continuing with something similar next year and as I get a greater understanding of the footballing talent at Kristin I'm excited by what lies ahead be it zone and cluster days, AIMS or players playing in College Sport competitions.
What I am confident of is that a good number of these players will be stepping up into First X1 reckoning within the next few years.
Enjoy your summer.
