The Prefects' leadership extends to many areas of Kristin. Each Prefect is allocated a role within the team in one of the following areas:
- Head/Deputy Head Boy and Girl
- House Prefects
- Junior/Middle School Liaisons
- Committee Chair
- House Captains
The announcement of these roles comes at a special Leadership Assembly, following a 4-day Prefect Camp, held at the end of Term 3. Prefect Camp is a unique tradition of Kristin Senior School where the current year's Prefects have a chance to debrief on their experience before inducting the new group into the ways of leadership at Kristin. Activities at the camp cover such areas as social styles analysis, developing a vision for leadership, personal style inventory, strengths and weaknesses of our leadership context and managing a Prefect Project. In addition, there are many physical and teamwork challenges that test the team's ability to work together and solve problems.
An annual project for the school's senior leadership team, the Prefect Project is a student-driven initiative, which aims to promote leadership through service.
Established in 2008 as a team building and leadership assignment, the annual Prefect Project has since grown to become an integral part of leadership in the Senior School. The unique initiative offers the school leaders an opportunity to partner with service and leadership groups in the community and, most importantly, to give something significant to people who are in need. While the students choose the nature of their own project, the framework requires that it is altruistic, that it is service orientated and that it involves real sacrifice on the part of the team.
