French Exchange: The Second Week
We have now spent two weeks in Paris, and it has been an incredible experience! So far we have been going to school with our correspondents, which has been an interesting insight into a different culture. Many aspects of the school are different, such as cooked meals at lunchtime, and the absence of uniform. I have also enjoyed trying different subjects, such as Philosophy, and Art History – and have even learnt a little German! This week, Helena and I also went on a school trip to the Musée Rodin, organised especially for exchange students.
In the weekends, my host family has been showing me around Paris. Today, we went to the art gallery, L’Orangerie, most known for the waterlily paintings of Claude Monet. It is remarkable to have such easy access to so beautiful and influential works of art. I also find walking around the city incredible, as even ordinary buildings are frequently stunningly beautiful.
The Christmas holidays have just started, and will last two weeks. During this time, we are going to visit Strasbourg and Normandy, where I look forward to more wonderful experiences!
