Arrival in Nice
As nice a place as Avignon was, the excitement this morning in anticipation of going to Nice was unbelievable. The bus driver took us to the Gare d’Avignon, where we headed on the 11.30 train to Nice. The ride was pleasant with unique and panoramic views of the Southern France countryside.
Three hours later, our home for the next three days was revealed. Jumpers off, and sunglasses on, we unloaded and headed towards our hostel, which came as a pleasant surprise to all!
Eager to get out and explore, we were given half an hour to unpack and re-dress adequately for the warmer weather. Our group split into three and ironically everyone suggested we head for ice cream! Many churches and a lot of gothic architecture later, as well as a trip to the Mediterranean seaside, we miraculously stumbled upon a set of man-made geysers, which certainly managed to cool down Grace and Annabel!
Dinner this evening was a strictly Italian affair, of a mozzarella salad accompanied by beef and éclairs. So thankful for Italian flair in a place as ‘nice’ as it sounds!
