International Programme
The International Programme at Kristin covers the two areas; International Students enrolled at Kristin for varying lengths of study, and International Exchanges (Dovetail), developed through arrangements with partner schools around the world.
Recognition of Kristin as a leading institution with superb facilities and courses, together with quality specialist pastoral care, has attracted an increasing number of overseas students either as fee-paying students or reciprocal exchange participants. Gains in cultural diversity and empathy and the development of an international perspective are a wonderful benefit enjoyed by our whole school community. To view the most recent Education Review Office (ERO) report, go to the ERO website and select Reports.
Kristin School is a signatory to the Ministry of Education Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. As such, the school is subject to a six-monthly review of its policy and practices. To view the Code of Practice, visit the Ministry of Education website and select International Education.

International Students
Currently there are approximately 50 international students at Kristin.
The majority of long-term students come from Korea, but we also have students from China, Germany, and Thailand, who mostly share the objective of completing the IB Diploma as a pathway to universities overseas. Short-term students (maximum one year) join Kristin either in February or July from Brazil, Chile, Germany and Japan. Over three-quarters of these students are living in home stay accommodation and enjoying first hand a typical kiwi family experience. Our Homestay Coordinator provides expert guidance to both students and the families.

Dovetail Exchange Programme
With the signing of two new partner school agreements in 2009, Kristin now has a total of 12 partnerships which provide for reciprocal exchange for periods of up to six weeks.
In 2009, approximately 20 Middle and Senior School students travelled to schools in Canada, Australia, China, Japan, France, Argentina and Germany. In return, the equivalent number of students from these destinations were also hosted by the Kristin community.

Japanese Parents' Network
Kristin Japanese Parents' Network is the latest addition to the Kristin cultural groups. This small, casual and friendly group meets 2-3 times a term, exchanging information and most importantly having fun chatting together in Japanese. Since the first meeting in Term 3 2009, several close friendships have developed between members of the group, supporting each other in all aspects of Kristin School and New Zealand life.
We intend to participate and help with school cultural activities, such as International Peace Night, cooking classes and more.
We are open to new ideas, and anyone who would like to join us.
Please contact Chika Deane 09 476 7506 (Japanese and English).
Chinese Parents' Association
The Kristin Chinese Parents' Association is a social meeting environment for Chinese speaking parents at Kristin. We meet every first Thursday of the month to go over the Newsletters, share information and assist the new Chinese speaking parents to get to know Kristin. The Association works with the school and the Kristin Chinese Students' Club to organise and support the Family Picnic and International Food Week events, prepare Chinese Dance at the International Peace Night, help with Chinese class activities, e.g. teaching Chinese knot etc. In February, we hosted a special Chinese Culture Concert for Kristin Chinese students to celebrate Chinese New Year and lantern festival.
Our meeting dates are advertised in the School Newsletter and through email, all Chinese speaking parents are welcome to attend. For information regarding the Association, please contact the Chairperson.
