Kristin School has a Registered Nurse available to students and staff
The Nurse:
- Provides direct health care to students and staff who have been injured or who present with an acute illness.
- Cares for students with chronic health conditions e.g diabetes, asthma, allergies through the development of individualised health care plans. Monitors children with chronic health conditions as required in the classroom. Liases with parents and teachers when planning for camps.
- Is responsible for administration of medication at school.
- Co-ordinates visits from outside health providers including the Dental Therapist, Hearing and Vision technician and Public Health Nurses who administer the immunisation programme in schools – Year 7 and HPV vaccinations.
- Liases with Public Health Nurses and Auckland Regional Public Health in the event of an outbreak of infectious disease – e.g Measles
- Works collaboratively with the Guidance counsellors and Chaplaincy team to provide for the physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of the students and staff at Kristin School.
