Well-Being Services

The Well-Being Service combines four key Kristin support services:       •Nursing        •Chapel        •Counselling       •Attendance

The Well-being team provide social, emotional, spiritual, health and attendance related support to the Kristin community of students, families and staff. The team are committed to working collaboratively with teachers and parents to ensure students maximise their potential and leave Kristin equipped with the intellectual, personal, social and emotional skills necessary to do great things with their lives.

The school registered Nurse is available to support students and staff who are unwell, injured or have chronic medical conditions. Co-ordinating disease prevention programmes such as the mobile dental unit and public health immunisations is also an important part of the role. Many students and parents drop by to talk with Fleur about health related issues. Fleur is a wealth of information and welcomes the opportunity to promote physical and emotional health.

Chaplaincy plays an important part in Kristin's values based education. Comprising of a Chaplain and two Assistant Chaplains, the team work alongside other disciplines within the school to provide a balance between the academic, sporting, social and spiritual facets of education. Core to the Chaplaincy is presence. Committed to all students, no matter what background or beliefs, the Chaplaincy can offer time and a different perspective on how to view things.

Providing a supportive, non judgemental environment for students to talk about issues is central to the work of the School Counsellors. Students regularly met with the counsellors to discuss ways to manage stress, to think about things in new ways and to make positive change in their lives. The Councellors are also available to chat with parents about the challenges and joys of raising great kids.

The Attendance Officer is responsible for monitoring and recording student attendance and absence. When parents inform the school that their child is away from school sick, is going to be late, or needs to attend appointments, she ensures this is communicated to the classroom teacher and dean.
