Jason MacDonald, Director of ICT Services

Jason MacDonald is the Director of ICT Services at Kristin, a school leading the way in the innovative use of education and research networks and classroom technology integration.

Jason holds a Bachelor of Computer Science, and began his ICT career in the telecommunications industry, with a focus on software research and development.

Jason has been in New Zealand for over a decade, the majority of which has been in ICT management. His interest areas are ICT governance, identity management, cloud based platforms, service delivery and enterprise architectures for delivering education value.

Jason's passion for ICT education also includes sharing and networking with colleagues across many sectors. Demand for conference appearances has seen Jason present at numerous ICT conferences across NZ and internationally.

Jason has a busy work and family life. He and his wife have four young children. Jason enjoys cycling, kayaking, and competitive hockey.

Barry Baughan: Head of eLearning Innovation

Barry is the head of e-learning innovation at Kristin, providing stimulus and direction in all aspects of e-learning. Barry works closely with both the teaching staff and ICTS to ensure innovations that improve teaching and learning are realized.

Barry has been involved in the IT industry for over 20 years in both the commercial and education sectors across multiple platforms. Prior to joining Kristin he spent 11 of those years working as a successful IT Manager in the private school sector and providing collaboration solutions and support to schools throughout New Zealand.

Barry's interests include Project Management (Prince2), Collaboration, Mobile Devices and e-learning solutions that improve learning outcomes.

Barry is a proud 'Cantabrian' with his son attending Middle School at Kristin and his young daughter keeping both himself and his wife very busy. When time permits Barry enjoys going out for a run, swim or for a hit around a squash court.

Rachel Feather: ICTS Customer Services Manager

Rachel oversees the ICT Services team who provide guidance on user support to students or staff and general
enquiries for parents.

Rachel works closely with the teaching staff and ICTS to coordinate projects and proposals that encourage continuous improvement in processes and technology, across all aspects of Kristin.

Rachel comes from a commercial background, having specialized in business improvement programmes including training, system implementations, web-design and communications.

Rachel is originally from Wales, having emigrated to NZ in 2001 and has made North Shore home. With one of her children being Special Needs, Rachel is a supporter of various NZ Special Needs groups focused not just on the support of the child but also family members such as siblings. Rachel's younger child attends Junior School at Kristin.

Tony Bigby: Technical Services Manager

As Technical Services Manager, Tony is responsible for the back-end systems which support Kristin's teaching and learning applications. Tony maintains oversight over the school's servers and storage infrastructure, the development of new applications, and directly manages the networking and voice systems on campus.

Following his Kristin education, Tony studied a Bachelor of Information Science with Honours, whilst maintaining close contact with the school as a part-time technician.

Tony's interests lie in the areas of networking and secure access, high-speed networking via the KAREN and NEAL education networks, and workflow process automation.

Outside of work hours, you may find Tony on the hockey turfs playing for a local team.

ICT Services (ICTS) is located on the first floor of the LIC (Library Information Centre) building.

Whilst on campus, students and staff can visit us throughout the school day.

Term Breaks - visits welcome – appointments are necessary.
