Counsellors
At Kristin we have a counselling service on site, to provide advice to any student, staff member or parent who needs help with a specific problem or issue.
Our Educational Psychologist and Guidance Counsellor provide a confidential service and are easily accessible. Located in the main Administration Offices, appointments can be made by visiting the office, by email or phone call. A professional consultation service and/or formal counselling is offered in a relaxed environment.
The purpose of the counselling team is to deal with any worries that might impact on students at Kristin. Grief and loss, family relationships, behaviour or learning difficulties, anxieties and friendship worries are examples of situations that can be discussed.
As well as the opportunity for anyone to self refer, staff and parents are also able to refer students to the counsellors if they have concerns over their well being. The student will then be invited to visit the counsellors in strict confidence.

Advice for Parents regarding Influenza
There have been a number of students over the winter period who have developed Influenza (The Flu). They have become unwell very quickly. They appeared well before coming to school perhaps complaining of a headache and have developed fever, shivering, aching muscles, sore throat and coughing. Some have had vomiting and diarrhoea. It is vital that you keep your children at home if they are unwell.
Advice from the Ministry of Health:
If your child is sick or displaying symptoms of the flu, you should keep them at home for seven days after their symptoms begin or until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer. Parents and caregivers should monitor their children carefully. For further advice, visit the Ministry of Health website.
To keep ourselves healthy:
Please remember that good hygiene practices are essential.
Where possible, keep your distance from others, at least one metre is good to reduce the spread of the virus.
Keep coughs and sneezes covered, tissues are best, and place tissue straight in a rubbish bin.
Rigorous, frequent hand-washing with soap and water will help, with good hand-drying.
