Senior School Career Development

Career education and guidance at Kristin develops students' ideas from Junior through to Senior School with programmes specific to each level. In the Senior years students develop clear ideas of their career goals along with the skills to make realistic career decisions and plans. Senior School students are encouraged and assisted to research widely and to take steps to further their decision making e.g. campus visits, information days, work experience and attending career evenings.

Year 11 students are guided through the subject and option selection process and CV writing in their Critical Thinking classes. The programme concludes with a targeted career conference and university guest speakers. Students are encouraged to attend the annual Coca Cola Careers Expo which is now also held on a Saturday.

Year 12 students are surveyed in small group sessions to establish and discuss their career aspirations. Individual interviews are arranged on request and by referral through parents, deans and subject teachers. Career related guest speakers in assemblies are arranged in conjunction with the year level Dean. Invited students attend the annual Workchoice Day to research areas of interest.

Year 13 students are interviewed on an ongoing basis with deliberate consideration of the transition from school to tertiary education and work. Regular career related and tertiary speakers in assemblies are arranged in conjunction with the year level Dean.
