Introducing Dave Scott, Middle School Principal

Mr Dave Scott BSC (Hons), PGCE, PGDipEDLEAD

Kristin Middle School Principal

Dave began at Kristin in 2016 as Middle School Principal and is an experienced and innovative educator, passionate about the learning and well-being of young people. He has a proven track record of providing leadership and excellence in teaching and learning, pastoral care, boarding, service learning and co-curricular activities within a variety of independent schools in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Dave uses a strengths-based approach when working with students and staff alike, focusing on what is right with them, acknowledging their abilities and taking an interest in their aspirations. He develops positive, collegial relationships and a team culture focused on positive engagement, support, innovation and the achievement of success.

He believes that there is a close link between student well-being and academic performance and that healthy and happy students are more likely to achieve higher academic results, complete school, and engage positively in society. A strong advocate for the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle, Dave leads by example. He has completed several marathons as well as the NZ Ironman, the Speights Coast to Coast and a number of other multi-sport events and cycle races.

He is also passionate about service learning and has initiated a wide variety of service and leadership initiatives during his time in schools. In 2012 Dave successfully conceptualised, planned and completed the Triple Seven, running seven marathons in seven days in the seven main cities of Australia. This brought together the independent schools community in Australia and raised thousands of dollars for Yalari, a not-for-profit indigenous educational trust that places indigenous children in Australian independent schools. In recognition of this achievement Dave received the Australian Boarding Schools Association Premier Leadership Award.

Dave has two children who are both in the Middle School and enjoys spending time with his family and being active in the outdoors, including skiing, boating, fishing and diving.
