Kindergarten

Kristin Kindergarten is a special environment and a key component in a child's experience at Kristin School. The Kindergarten embraces the core values of Kristin School where children are considered the community's most precious resource. A qualified, motivated teaching team make the facility a joyful and exciting place to be, understanding that their role is to provide a supportive partnership for Kristin School parents seeking the very best education for their children.

The purpose-built facility is set within the Kristin School community, allowing our children and their families a wholesome approach to early childhood education in a quality setting. Being part of a whole school environment, with the opportunity to interact with students from 4-18 years, Kristin is indeed a unique place for young children to begin their education.

Kristin offers a two tier learning programme which establishes firm foundations for each child's education over the years to come. To enrich the academic curriculum, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) is carefully linked to the New Zealand Early Childhood Education Curriculum, Te Whariki.

From 4 - 4½ years Kristin preschoolers learn; gross motor skills through play, conceptual understanding of mathematics, reading, writing, speaking and listening, activities that build their interests, responsibility for themselves and others, and the development of self-care skills.

The 4½ – 5 year olds begin to; understand what they can and cannot do, they develop more complex counting and mathematical skills, become familiar with print, and modify their ability to enquire, research, explore and care for the natural world.

At the conclusion of the Kindergarten programme our students have experienced an environment that has fostered belonging, well-being, contribution, communication and exploration. We take great pride in transitioning happy girls and boys with academic potential and emerging talent through to Kristin Junior School.
