Introduction
The selection of students for Kristin is a vital process in maintaining the character of our school. As a leading Independent School our international reputation means we often have to select from a waiting list of impressive students.
Kristin is renowned in New Zealand for its progressive approach to education and has been a national leader with innovations such as the school-wide teaching of Mandarin, the development of specialised Middle School teaching methods, a student laptop programme and a high-speed wireless network covering the entire campus. Seen as a model of best practice, delegations from throughout New Zealand and abroad regularly journey to Albany to learn from Kristin’s experience.
Within Kristin, the students and staff share a warm, caring and aspirational environment. As a proud North Shore school our local community is a progressive, entrepreneurial place, with a reputation for creativity and optimism. Kristin was built on those same principles and continues to approach education in that way. Many of Kristin's Alumni are now starting to make their mark on the national and international stage.
Entry Points
Over recent years, a number of additional places have been created through our planned roll growth to approximately 1650 students. Now that we have reached our goal, spread evenly across our three-school structure, we believe we are well placed to offer the optimal balance of pastoral care and academic, sporting and cultural opportunities for all our students.
There are three main entry points to Kristin School:
Junior School
The entry point to the Junior School is at Kindergarten. Children commence each term according to the date of their fourth birthday; at four years of age they attend Kindergarten, and at four and a half they enter the Transition to School Programme. Students attend full-day sessions, five days per week. Further new admissions into the Junior School occur through natural attrition only.
Interviews for children turning 4 years of age during 2010 and 2011 are underway.

Year 7
At Year 7 the number of classes is doubled from three to six with those additional places being available for new students.
Year 9
Two more classes are added at Year 9 giving opportunity for a number of students to enter Kristin. Places become available at the remaining levels through natural student attrition only.
Interviews for entry to Years 7 and 9 2011 are underway. We look forward to receiving your child's application and including them in our enrolment process.

Admission Procedures
We welcome enquiries about the enrolment of your child at Kristin School.
The School Prospectus and Application Form are provided on request from the Director of Admissions who can also give you further explanation of the enrolment process.
Completed Application Forms, with accompanying documents such as current school reports, samples of work etc., are reviewed by the appropriate School Principal.
Applications are accepted at any time with applicants' names being held on our waiting lists for the respective year groups. We advise early submission of applications especially at Year Levels 7 and 9.
Applicants on our wait lists will be interviewed as and when places become available. Further information relating to the student's current school progress may be requested at this time. The interviewing Principal will advise the outcome of the application in writing following the interview.
