Kristin Prepare to Farewell Middle School Principal

Kristin Middle School Principal, Mr Ted Berry has announced his departure from Kristin School in Albany, effective from the end of Term 3.

Ted is a lively and dynamic force within the Middle School at Kristin, an Independent School in Albany. However, it is testimony to his character that he wishes to conclude his time as its leader whilst at the top of his game. In October last year Kristin Middle School were officially accredited to teach the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) – the first school in New Zealand – earning the title of IB World School. Only weeks ago, Kristin celebrated the opening of the Middle School Learning Centre a three-year project which has produced an inspiring piece of architecture and resource for the thousands of students who will pass through its classrooms. For Ted, these are logical milestones at which to pass on the mantle of leadership.

There is much to be proud of when one considers Ted's 15 year contribution to Kristin, starting with his 12 year reign as the founding Principal and indeed, architect, of the Middle School. Over the next two terms, the school will prepare an appropriate way to express the thanks of the school community for this service.

In the meantime, Ted is determined that this change should not unsettle or disrupt the good work of the Middle School in any way. A letter has been prepared for the school community informing them of the transition and has been sent home with students.

A search for the next Middle School Principal has now commenced. Given his depth of knowledge, passion and charisma, Ted will be an extremely difficult person to replace. However, Executive Principal Peter Clague is confident that the reputation that Ted has created for Kristin's Middle School, will ensure that the job is well-contested and will attract high-calibre applicants.

All of Kristin's North Shore and international community wish Ted well as he turns his energies to the opportunities that the next stage of his life holds. Until that time, he is insistent on, “no fuss, business as usual, kids come first.” One would expect nothing less from him.
